Post Germany after the Holocaust

Most of world identifies Germany with the Nazi regime and their persecution of the Jews in the Holocaust. Many Jews were killed, tortured or relocated as slaves, long before Hitler was born. Germans were taught that Jews were weak and inferior, a "Jewish Poison" (Gustavo, P., 2005). The Aryan Nation was born in the late 1800's and by the early 1900's the movement has spread throughout Germany gaining many new recruits. Before long, the Aryan movement had gained popularity in other countries around Germany.

However, there is more to the country than the racism and discrimination that lead to WWI and WWII. After the war, the Nazi party officials faced war crimes and the country began re-building the country. Unfortunately, political negotiations between the western and eastern allies failed. So, they built a solid concrete wall and used barbed wires, in order to separate the city of Berlin in 1961 (Burkhard, K., 2007).

West Germany was governed by the western allies "U.S. and East Germany was controlled by the U.S.S.R. Politic continued to play a role in the economy and the people once again suffered. But in 1990, the east and the west became one society. Many people saw family members and friends; for the first time in years. Sadly, some learned of their loved ones death and where they were laid to rest.

Dolphins and their complex social behaviors

Did you know that there are "26 living species", of dolphins swimming in the ocean? Have you ever heard that they are in the same family as a whale? They are actually called a "small cetaceans" or a "toothed-whales", scientists and biologists. Through their studies they found that they have advanced or complex personalities. Scientists believe that dolphins are truly remarkable and highly intelligent.

However, don't confuse them with "porpoises", which are generally "smaller" than a dolphin. Basically, dolphins are a part of the "Delphinidae" family and porpoises are a part of the "Phocoenidae" family. Also, dolphins have "conical shaped teeth" and porpoises have spaded-like shaped teeth". Another difference is that dolphins have a "distant break" in the "rostrum" and porpoises don't have one.

Children and Medication or Generation Med.

As a parent of a child that has ADHD, I understand the frustration of a child that seems "out of control". My son was about three years old, when he became extremely hyper and strong-willed. My was unable to focus, sit still, or stop talking. I didn't mind the way he was, because I was more stubborn than he was. I couldn't keep a babysitter or leave him in day cancer, because his was always doing something to get in trouble.

So, after becoming frustrated, I choose to stay at home and keep him busy in every way I could. Basically, I filled his day with chores, play, and other stuff that he enjoyed doing. Everything that I was doing worked, until he started school. Kindergarten wasn't so bad, even though he had problems adjusting to the kids and teacher. But, First grade was horrible for both of us, he failed and I got forced to test him for ADHD.

Would you be surprised to learn that it is a symbol of "being fortunate ", not "Anti-Semitism" (Smith, 2007)? In some cultures, they actually turned the symbol clockwise or added something to it.

Before the symbols meaning was changed, the swastika was used to represent "life, sun, power, strength, and good luck". Many cultures consider the emblem to be sacred part of their lives and faith. How did this positive symbol, become an emblem of hate that is recognized around the world? These types of crosses have been found on "artifacts" found in "Sanskrit" and "the ancient city of Troy" (American-Israeli, 2007).

A Mother's Prayer

The children are yelling,
My brain is swelling.
Aching for all to see,
I am going crazy.
Out of my mind,
For a moment in time.
Where there is peace,
No one is weak.
Lord, help me understand,
This is part of your plan.

Wings of Hope Project

This year, I am collecting Thinking of You cards, in order to give them out at local nursing homes . During last year, my grandma stayed in several nursing homes and I noticed that there were many patients that didn't get visits from their family members or their friends. I decided to try and make a difference in their lives in some way. I began thinking about collecting Thinking of You greeting cards to give out to each and every patient.

Place we chose

As the Founder of The Laugh at Cancer Support Community, I called several local nursing homes and explained what I wanted to do. Finally, I found a small one that usually has about 120 patients on any given day. The nursing home facility is named Governors Creek and it is located in Green Cove Springs, Florida. My grandmother stayed in this nursing home several times, so I got to know some of the people who work there.

Why we want to help

During Christmas time, I donated fleece throw blankets and Christmas cards to this nursing home. The patients were so grateful to know that someone truly cares about them, especially the ones who have no one that visits them. So, the activities director Mrs. Rita and I spoke about possibly gathering up Thinking of You Cards about every three months. This way, together we can make a difference in the lives of those that are living at the nursing home fulltime or those who are being treated for a short time.

The Origin of Flag Day

What is it?

The Flag of the United States was first created in September 11, 1777, but the committee first discussed designing the flag in June 14, 1777. The Battle of Brandywine was the first battle where soldiers carried the new flag into a battle. According to the U.S. Dept. of Veteran Affairs (2009), President Woodrow Wilson declared that June 14th as the official Flag Day. Yet, it wasn't until President Truman and Congress acted to make it an official holiday in 1949.

Why is Important?

However, today Old Glory is forgotten by so many Americans and many families have no idea that this holiday exists. Additionally, this day celebrates the immigrants, who have become new Americans who value our way of life. It is vital to celebrate the day which intertwined with America's history and growth. As Americans, we should remember the sacrifices made by our ancestors, in order to build a new colony for those who wanted to live free.

Man's Tradtion v/s God's Word

Does everything that you have been taught about the Bible make sense? Do you ever wonder why man's creation is taught differently in our schools and churches? Is the earth truly a million years old, why are we finding dinosaur bones? Have you ever wondered why God created you and your family?
According to the Bible, we are created by God's for his pleasure only. Isn't that amazing, yet comforting to know, that we are able to please give our Heavenly Father pleasure. We all created unique by God and for one purpose. So, we aren't junk, we truly were made to please our divine creator!

Revelation 4:11 says, "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."(KJV)
Why are there so many different religions in the world today? How is each religion able to believe so differently? According to some religions, mankind has only been on earth for about two thousand years. However, many scientists have estimated that the earth is a million years old. Therefore, some believe that this disproves the Bible validity.

But, The Bible tell us that God created the earth in 7 days, but 2 Peter 3:8 reminds us, "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." (KJV)

Could it be possible that the earth was created in 7,000 years? Instead of seven actually days like most religions believe? Genesis 2:4 states, "These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens."(KJV)

What does the "Generations of the Heavens and Earth" mean in Genesis 2:4? Why did God rest before making Adam? Genesis Ch. 2: 5-7 states, "And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."(KJV)
